Nate grew up snowboarding and moved from the front range of Colorado to the mountains of Winter Park to live the “ski bum” lifestyle. All winter long he had heard people ranting about the downhill mountain bike scene in the summer. Being an employee of the resort and an individual addicted to thrills, Nate rented a downhill bike within days of the bike park opening and in that same day tracked down a 500 dollar downhill bike to call his own. He was hooked.
The next winter didn’t have the same allure it once did before he moved to the mountains and he couldn’t wait for summer to ride bikes with his friends. He landed a job as a member of the bike shop for the next season. After a few seasons skiing and riding he moved to the south where he could ride bikes year round. Since then Nate has lived the #bikelife here in Asheville and enjoys everything from commuting, bmx, mountain biking, building trail and the occasional road ride.
It’s a pleasure for him to spend his days working on and talking bikes. In the past seven years working in rental and retail bike shops he has primarily been behind the scenes maintaining customers bikes, with the time under his belt in the front of the shop he has realized there needs to be a great level of communication between the customers and the people working on their bike. The terrain in WNC is demanding and offering great service comes with a direct understanding of what the customer is trying to achieve and giving them personal advice to help them obtain it. Then the customer and Nate will both sleep in peace at night dreaming of the next time they will ride. Even if they are riding the bike together.
